NHL Waiver Wire Adds: 10/16 to 10/22
I will be looking for players who have possibly been moved up in the lineup, have a favorable schedule this week, or might be getting a boost because of injury.
DISCLOSURE: Make sure to monitor the NHL news feeds for the latest player status and injury news.
Goalies
Ville Husso
Opponents this week - Columbus, Pittsburgh, Ottawa and Calgary
Husso, who is currently available in 65% of ESPN leagues, has a favorable schedule this week. The Detroit Red Wings are set to play four games, giving Husso the opportunity for at least three starts. Although he has had a shaky start to the season, struggling against teams like the New Jersey Devils and Tampa Bay Lightning, it's not a total surprise. However, based on the upcoming schedule, I believe he has a good chance to bounce back. In fantasy, it's crucial to get your goalie at least three starts in a week, and with Husso's potential starts this week, he could be a valuable addition to your lineup.
Other options
- Karel Vejmelka ESPN rsotered 5.5%
Forwards
Ondrej Palat
Opponents - Florida, New York Islanders
Palat is currently owned in only 2% of ESPN leagues. The Devils are scheduled to play only two games this week, so it might be a good idea to keep Palat on your bench, hoping he performs well and stays on the top line for a while. Palat has the ability to play in the top 9 for the Devils, so having him on your bench could be a wise decision, depending on how deep your league's bench can be.

Defensemen
Jacob Slavin
Opponents - San Jose, Seattle, Colorado
Slavin is an excellent addition to your fantasy hockey team and it's surprising that he is still available in 80% of ESPN leagues. In just two games, he has managed to score a goal, provide an assist, make four shots on goal, and block five shots. He is a player who can fill multiple categories and is a valuable asset to any team. Additionally, Slavin plays for a team that allows their defensemen to shoot the puck frequently, which can lead to more opportunities for points. Depending on your league settings and how many defensemen you can start, he should be considered a must-add and one of your starting defensemen every time he plays.
