Florida Panthers center Sam Bennett will not be in the lineup for Thursday night's season opener on the road versus the Minnesota Wild. The feisty pivot is dealing with a lower-body injury and "won't be too much longer", according to Panthers bench boss Paul Maurice. A swiss-army knife up front for the Panthers, Bennett contributes across the board for fantasy managers. He recorded 16 goals and 40 points across 63 regular-season games last season while also adding 54 penalty minutes, 193 shots on goal, 150 hits, and a plus-five rating while skating in a solid 17:24 of ice time per game. At this point, he is certainly a worthwhile injury stash and is a sneaky contributor in deeper leagues.--Brenton Kemp

Florida Panthers center Sam Bennett (upper body) is expected to sit out the remainder of the regular season. The 28-year-old missed a second consecutive game on Tuesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs. "I just don't think he's going back in," Panthers head coach Maurice said of Bennett on Tuesday. "We're going to take the time for the rest of the season." Maurice added that Bennett could play, but the team aims to get him as close to 100 percent as possible for the playoffs. Bennett concludes the season with a career-high 50 points (25 goals, 25 assists) in 74 games. Fortunately for the Panthers, Aleksander Barkov (upper body) returned on Tuesday, which bolsters their center depth.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

Florida Panthers center Sam Bennett (rest) will be held out of action on Sunday against the Detroit Red Wings. Panthers head coach Paul Maurice has said that Bennett and Sam Reinhart (rest) will miss Sunday's game for some "healing time." With only a couple of weeks left of the regular season, the Panthers need to get players healthy for the playoffs. Bennett has enjoyed a career year in 2024-25 with 50 points (25 goals, 25 assists) in 74 games. Rasmus Asplund and Jesse Puljujarvi have been called up from the AHL to fill in for Bennett and Reinhart on Sunday. Meanwhile, players such as Anton Lundell, Evan Rodrigues, and Carter Verhaeghe are set for more prominent roles.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

Florida Panthers left wing Sam Bennett found the back of the net twice during their 3-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday evening. Bennett scored his first goal in the opening frame on the power play. Later in the second frame, the 28-year-old would tally his second power-play goal. This goal also served as the game-winner. This performance extended his current point streak to four games. Over his 12 contests, Bennett has tallied 13 points (six goals) with 23 penalty minutes, 42 shots on goal and 21 hits. Through 64 games, the 28-year-old has scored 22 goals and tallied 22 helpers. He has added 78 penalty minutes with 134 hits. He is on pace to set a career-high in points. He remains a solid option in category leagues that reward hits and penalty minutes.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

Florida Panthers center Sam Bennett will be inserted into the lineup by Team Canada on Saturday against Team USA. He will take the place of Philadelphia Flyers star Travis Konecny, who had a tough time in the 4 Nations Face-Off opener against Sweden. Konecny went minus-two across 10:20 of action, finishing with no points and zero shots on goal. Bennett will work as the fourth-line center, with Brad Marchand and Seth Jarvis skating alongside him. The Panthers forward has entered the tournament in good form, posting a three-game point streak with two goals and two assists. He has amassed 35 points (18 goals, 17 assists) across the entire 2024-25 campaign.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
