Amon-Ra St. Brown Injury Update for Fantasy Football
The Lions are optimistic that Amon-Ra St. Brown (abdomen) will return in Week 6 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday after missing the Week 5 win over the Carolina Panthers due to an abdominal injury. "I feel pretty good about the possibility of him playing this week," head coach Dan Campbell said. St. Brown didn't practice at all last week but ran full-speed in workouts with trainers on the side.
The Lions exercised caution with St. Brown last week to ensure it wouldn't become a long-term issue. He leads the team with 26 catches and 331 receiving yards and is coming off a Pro Bowl season. In his absence last week, rookie tight end Sam LaPorta went off for two touchdowns, and Josh Reynolds also scored and had a bigger role.
Amon-Ra St. Brown Fantasy Football Outlook
Tampa Bay presents a neutral matchup for wideouts, allowing the 17th-most fantasy points to the position through four games. That said, St. Brown should be heavily targeted upon his return and has WR1 upside.
The 23-year-old is matchup-proof, and if he's active, fantasy managers can assume he's healthy enough to play and be effective.
If for some reason he's out, Josh Reynolds and Sam LaPorta could be in for more big showings in Week 6. Jameson Williams will have deep league appeal, but he's produced one solid fantasy outing in seven career games, so he's not worth starting in shallower formats.
