Denver Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. was the 63rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Mims had a productive college career, totaling 123 receptions for 2,398 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns in three years at Oklahoma.
The former Sooner was the first draft pick made by the Broncos this season. Many questioned the move during the NFL Draft. However, it’s turned out to be an excellent selection. Denver lost Tim Patrick to a season-ending injury during training camp. Meanwhile, Jerry Jeudy dealt with a hamstring injury to start the year.
Mims played only 48 offensive snaps over the first three weeks. However, he has seven receptions on nine targets for 195 receiving yards and a touchdown. More importantly, the rookie was the WR24 over the first three games, averaging 12.1 half-point PPR fantasy points per game.

What Did Marvin Mims Jr. Accomplish In Week 4?
While Sean Payton and the team said they wanted to get Mims more involved on offense, that didn’t happen in Week 4, as the former Oklahoma star had only two targets against the Chicago Bears but caught both for 47 receiving yards. More importantly, he made a critical big play downfield late in the contest.
Is Marvin Mims Jr. A Good Fantasy Football Pickup For Week 5?
Unfortunately, the Broncos refuse to give Mims more snaps and targets. The former Oklahoma star has played only 39 receiving snaps this season. Yet, he leads the team’s wide receivers in receiving yards (242), yards per route run (6.21), and target per route run rate (28.2%).
While the rookie has significant talent and upside, his matchup in Week 5 isn’t fantasy-friendly. The New York Jets have one of the top defenses in the NFL. They have held wide receivers to only one receiving touchdown and 19.8 fantasy points per game this season.
Instead, fantasy players should target a wide receiver on the other team this week. Allen Lazard is rostered in under 70% of ESPN leagues and is an appealing streaming or bye-week replacement option.
The veteran wide receiver had three receptions for 61 receiving yards and a touchdown in Week 4, scoring 13.6 fantasy points. Meanwhile, the Broncos have surrendered nearly 36 fantasy points per game to wide receivers this year.
