Martin Truex Jr. Finishes 19th At Talladega
1 year agoMartin Truex Jr. finished 19th in Sunday's YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. While fans of MTJ undoubtedly would like to have seen more from their favorite driver, the performance was exactly what the regular season champion needed. Despite being recognized as one of the 75 greatest drivers in NASCAR's history, for whatever reason, Talladega has always been a challenge for the No. 19. Given his struggles at this venue and given that it is a style of track that lends itself to chaos, it was a wise decision to take a conservative approach in this race. With a top-20 finish at Talladega out of the way, the 20-year Cup veteran sits above the playoff cutoff line entering the Charlotte Roval, a style of track that he has historically performed very well at.
