We have another action-packed prime-time slate for Week 5 of the 2023 season. There are only six games on the docket but all of them are conference games (Notre Dame may as well be in the ACC). That should make for a very entertaining night!
We start off in Norman with the Cyclones coming to town. Next up we have the Irish in Durham to take on a Duke team that the Cameron Crazies have only dreamed about. Tennessee hosts South Carolina. We have a battle of which offense is the worst in Iowa City between the Hawkeyes and Spartans. Pitt heads to Blackburg because they want to hear "Enter Sandman" really loud. We close this out in Fort Worth with West Virginia taking on the Toadies.
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy college football lineup picks for DraftKings on 9/30/23, locking at 7 PM Eastern. I’ll provide multiple player suggestions for players at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver, aiming to highlight one option at the high, middle, and lower end of the salary scale. Good luck, RotoBallers.

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Quarterbacks
Chandler Morris, TCU ($8,200)
Chandler Morris has been remarkably consistent this year, putting up between 26 and 27 DraftKings points in all three games against FBS opponents. He's still not all that accurate, but he doesn't turn the ball over often and offers more rushing upside than the other quarterbacks at the top with the exception of Gabriel. Morris put together his best passing day against an FBS team last week against SMU. He should be able to build on that this week.
Spencer Rattler, South Carolina ($7,300)
Tennessee's run defense has been the sore spot, but that's okay. Spencer Rattler has some wheels on him too. Rattler is playing well this season, but the dismal South Carolina offensive line can't keep him protected. Yet Rattler still completed all but two of his 20 pass attempts against Mississippi State. There is some risk here because of the line, but Rattler's upside makes it worth the risk.
Also consider: Dillon Gabriel, Oklahoma ($9,500); Garrett Greene, West Virginia ($6,200); Rocco Becht, Iowa State ($5,500)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Running Backs
Audric Estime, Notre Dame ($7,900)
Audric Estime had a solid game against Ohio State, but he didn't score and didn't record a reception. It's times like that when you really notice how important the receptions are for running backs. Duke's defense is stout as well, but I expect Estime to at least sniff 100 yards and catch a pass or two here. It's probably not enough in GPPs, but you can feel safe in cash games with Estime's usage.
CJ Donaldson, West Virginia ($5,800)
The often-underestimated Texas Tech run defense did a great job on CJ Donaldson last week, but it's easy to concentrate on the run when you don't really have to worry about the team passing. Garrett Greene's return should help soften things up for Donaldson this week. Don't forget that Donaldson ran for 81 yards against a great Penn State defense and 102 on Pitt's strong run D. There is a lot of potential here.
Rodney Hammond, Pittsburgh ($5,100)
Tech's run defense has been nothing short of terrible so far. They have allowed 850 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on the ground in just four games. Purdue is the only team that didn't rack up over 200 against them, and this is a team that played Old Dominion and Rutgers to open the season. Rodney Hammond has had a bit of a rough start this year, but it should get better, at least for one night.
Also consider: Nate Carter, Michigan State ($6,000); Jordan Waters, Duke ($5,900); Dakereon Joyner, South Carolina ($5,600); Leshon Williams, Iowa ($5,200)
DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Wide Receivers
Xavier Legette, South Carolina ($6,100)
Xavier Legette continues to put up gigantic numbers with Antwane Wells out. Georgia is the only team to hold Legette under 100 yards and he has at least six receptions in every game. Tennessee is going to have their hands full with Legette. He is my favorite play on the entire slate for the price.
Jalon Calhoun, Duke ($5,700)
Jalon Calhoun isn't quite the target hog that he was last year, but in a game like this, the veteran should shine. He and Riley Leonard have played together for a couple of years now. Non-verbal communication is going to be key against a defense like Notre Dame. I don't expect a big game out of Calhoun, but he has a high floor.
Jaylin Noel, Iowa State ($4,800)
Rocco Becht coming into his own has been great for Jaylin Noel. He is a target hog on this team because he runs good routes and has great hands. Oklahoma isn't going to allow anything deep, but Noel should get about eight points just on receptions alone. He's not going to have a ceiling game against this defense, but he should get open enough to give him a strong floor.
Nic Anderson, Oklahoma ($4,300)
Nic Anderson has four touchdowns in the last two games. Oklahoma spreads the ball all over the field, but when a guy at this price is leading the team in touchdown catches, I pay attention. Anderson is more of a boom-or-bust play, but the three receptions in the close game against the Bearcats last week is a good sign.
Also consider: Andrel Anthony, Oklahoma ($6,000); Squirrel White, Tennessee ($5,800); Konata Mumpfield, Pittsburgh ($5,500); Jaylin Lane, Virginia Tech ($5,200); Holden Staes, Notre Dame ($4,500); Maliq Carr, Michigan State ($4,500)
DraftKings CFB Stacks:
South Carolina
The Tennessee defense has been a problem all season. Add in a quarterback like Spencer Rattler who is already playing well, and you have the start of a good stack. Legette is the other must-have. Tennessee's run defense has been a major problem, so Joyner will be in my stacks as well. I am probably leaving it at three players because of all of the targets that Legette gets.
West Virginia
TCU's defense has been a bit of a problem this season. This is a cheap stack with Greene and Donaldson only costing $12,000 combined. Devin Carter and Kole Taylor are the receivers to add if you want a multi-dimensional stack.
Also consider: Tennessee, TCU
