Fantasy Baseball Impact Of The New York Yankees Placing Tommy Kahnle On The 15-Day Injured List
The New York Yankees placed right-handed pitcher Tommy Kahnle on the 15-day injured list on Monday, according to a tweet from the American League East franchise’s official X account.
The Yankees tweeted the following:
As part of the move, per the tweet, the Yankees also recalled fellow reliever Matt Bowman from Triple-A.
Kahnle has appeared in 42 games for the club this season, logging 40.2 innings in the process while pitching to a 2.66 ERA and a 3.97 FIP. He’s added a pitcher win, a pair of saves, and 14 holds for New York while striking out 48 batters and allowing 19 walks. The veteran has also surrendered five home runs on the season.
In his place, the Yankees will turn to Bowman to fill his spot on the roster. The 32-year-old has allowed three hits, three earned runs, a pair of walks, and a home run in two innings in the majors for the Yankees this season, striking out two batters.
He’s previously made 49 appearances for New York’s Triple-A affiliate, pitching to a 3.99 ERA and a 4.39 FIP while logging four pitcher wins and five saves in 49 appearances spanning 58.2 innings of work. The reliever also accumulated 58 strikeouts, 30 walks, and five home runs allowed in Triple-A this season.
Fantasy managers in search of late-season bullpen options in leagues where holds are part of the scoring are likely better off looking elsewhere for streaming reinforcements.
