Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane was the 84th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Achane had a productive college career, totaling 369 rushing attempts for 2,376 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also had 65 receptions for 554 receiving yards and five touchdowns in three years at Texas A&M.
The former Texas A&M star was a popular dynasty rookie draft pick. The Dolphins re-signed Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr. in the offseason. However, both running backs are older players and have struggled to stay healthy in their careers. Therefore, fantasy players had high hopes for the rookie running back.
Unfortunately, Achane suffered a shoulder injury during the preseason. The injury cost him the Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. Then he had one rushing attempt for five yards and one reception for four receiving yards in Week 2 against the New England Patriots, scoring only 1.4 half-point PPR fantasy points.

What Did De'Von Achane Accomplish In Week 3?
However, the former Texas A&M star had a historic performance on Sunday. Achane had 18 rushing attempts for 203 yards and two touchdowns against the Denver Broncos. He also had four receptions for 30 receiving yards and two touchdowns in Week 3. More importantly, the rookie scored 49.3 fantasy points in the win, the most by any running back this season.
Furthermore, Achane put up historical numbers despite Mostert having a career performance. The veteran running back had 13 rushing attempts for 82 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught all seven targets for 60 receiving yards and a touchdown last week, scoring 41.7 fantasy points in the win.
Is De'Von Achane A Good Fantasy Football Pickup for Week 4
The rookie running back made history on Sunday. Achane joins Billy Cannon as the only two players with over 200 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns, and two receiving touchdowns in the same game. Cannon accomplished this over 60 years ago, back in the 1961 season for the Houston Oilers.
Despite all the offseason and preseason hype, Achane is available in over 83% of ESPN leagues. Fantasy players shouldn't hesitate to use 70% or more of their free agent acquisition budget (FAAB) to acquire the former Texas A&M star.
