1 year agoAlex Bowman's 2022 playoff campaign was derailed by a concussion he suffered in a crash at Texas, which caused him to miss the next five races. After a promising start to 2023, a back injury in a sprint car crash in Iowa again forced him to miss races. Bowman suffered a significant downturn in speed after his return as he ranked third in the Cup Series with a speed percentile of 76.47% but only ranks 18th in the races since his return with a speed percentile of 57.56%. Since the playoffs began, he has only had average speed, which seems to be continuing with a 14th-place qualifying run on Saturday. Bowman tends to perform better on flat intermediates like Las Vegas and Kansas than higher-banked ones like Texas.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller
