2 years agoVegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner is out indefinitely and will remain on long-term injured reserve, according to Golden Knights general manager Kelly McCrimmon. Lehner missed the entire 2022-23 season after undergoing hip surgery and it remains to be seen if he will be able to make it back at any point during the 2023-24 campaign. He last turned in a 2.83 goals-against average and .907 save percentage while going 23-17-2 across 44 starts for Vegas in the 2021-22 campaign, a down season by his standards considering his career 2.71 GAA and .917 Sv% in 364 regular-season games between the Ottawa Senators, Buffalo Sabres, Chicago Blackhawks, and the Golden Knights.--Brenton Kemp

6 months agoVegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner (hip) may have his contract terminated by the team after he missed his mandatory medical exam ahead of training camp on Wednesday. A preseason medical exam was required to confirm Lehner's medical inability to play the 2024-25 campaign. He has already been unavailable for two seasons and likely has played his final NHL game after having hip surgery in August 2022. Lehner is set to enter the final season of a five-year, $25 million contract he signed with the Golden Knights in 2020. Vegas owes the Swedish netminder $4.5 million in salary for the final year, which Lehner would lose in case of a contract termination.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

3 years agoVegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner enjoyed a victorious comeback on Sunday, logging his 22nd win of the season in a 3-2 overtime victory against Vancouver. This was his first appearance since Mar. 8. Lehner, who returned from a lower-body injury, was perfect all the way through to the third period before he was beaten a couple of times. The Swedish netminder finished with 26 saves and now has a 22-15-1 record for the season with a 2.75 goals-against average, a .909 save percentage and one shutout. Lehner will have a chance to post back-to-back wins for the first time since January in a rematch with the Canucks on Wednesday.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

3 years agoVegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner (lower body) remains out for Wednesday's clash with Seattle, but he's getting close to returning to action. Lehner appeared to have suffered a setback when he left Tuesday's practice early, but he was back on the ice at Wednesday's morning skate and continues to work towards his comeback. The Swedish netminder last played on Mar. 8. Vegas head coach Peter DeBoer has been quoted saying that Lehner is "a day away" from returning, so it's possible that he'll be ready for Friday's rematch with the Kraken. Logan Thompson has gotten most of the starts with Lehner unavailable, and he's set to go again Wednesday night. The 25-year-old rookie is 5-4-0 for the season and will try to grab a third consecutive victory.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

3 years agoVegas Golden Knights right wing Reilly Smith (undisclosed) and goaltender Robin Lehner (lower body) have been placed on Injured Reserve. The two have missed multiple games already and it now looks that it could be a while until we see either of them back in action. Laurent Brossoit will be the de facto starter until Lehner is healthy again. Smith has joined a lengthy list of injured forwards and all the absentees have resulted in William Carrier and Nicolas Roy moving up to the top six. The latter is having a decent campaign with 10 goals and 26 points and could be an interesting addition for fantasy teams in deep leagues.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
