1 year agoNew York Giants running back Saquon Barkley (ankle) and left tackle Andrew Thomas (hamstring) have been ruled out for the Thursday Night Football contest against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 3. Barkley suffered a sprained ankle in the Week 2 comeback win over the Arizona Cardinals and could miss at least a few games moving forward. In his absence, veteran running back Matt Breida is expected to occupy the team's RB1 role, though he will have limited upside against a fierce 49ers' defensive line. Gary Brightwell and rookie Eric Gray could also see touches alongside Breida. Quarterback Daniel Jones is likely to be under pressure all game long with Thomas out of action.
