New Orleans Saints running back Jamaal Williams scored a league-leading 17 rushing touchdowns last season with the Detroit Lions and had some hype surrounding him heading into 2023 as the Saints' primary short-yardage back.
However, the veteran ball carrier posted disappointing outings in Week 1 and 2 and is now dealing with an injury.
Is Williams injured or healthy? Will he play in Week 3 against the Green Bay Packers? Let's dive in.

Jamaal Williams Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Williams (hamstring) is expected to need some time to recover from his hamstring injury, according to Adam Schefter. Saints head coach Dennis Allen told reporters that Williams would need "some time" to heal from the hamstring injury that he suffered during Monday night's win over the Carolina Panthers.
While no timetable was given, it sounds like Williams is definitely out for Week 3, and most likely longer.
He was operating as the Saints' bell cow prior to his injury with both Alvin Kamara (suspension) and rookie Kendre Miller (hamstring) being sidelined.
Saints Running Backs' Week 3 Fantasy Outlook
While practice squad call-up Tony Jones Jr. scored a pair of touchdowns on Monday Night Football after Williams exited, Miller (hamstring) could be set to make in NFL debut in Week 3. Miller missed the first two weeks of the regular season but could be back just in time to make a fantasy impact.
If Miller is active, expect him to league the team's ground attack, but Jones Jr. and Taysom Hill will likely be mixed in too. All things considered, it will be a risky week to play any of the Saints' running backs.
When Williams returns from his hamstring injury, he might be reduced to a small workload with Kamara back. It's unfortunate that he was unable to pay off for fantasy managers while he had the backfield to himself.
