Sonny Gray Continues Impressive Season Sunday
1 year agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Sonny Gray picked up his eighth win of the season Sunday in a 4-0 shutout win over the Chicago White Sox. Gray shut down the White Sox lineup with ease in this one, allowing just five hits while striking out six and walking none in seven scoreless frames. Gray has been exceptional this year, pitching to a 2.84 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with 171 K over 174 IP. Maybe more surprising is the fact that he has stayed healthy and given the Twins reliable innings all season. The 33-year-old is on pace to pitch more innings than he has since 2015 when he threw 208 IP. Gray will probably be drafted in the middle rounds next year, a place that provides a lot of upside but also some risk given his extensive injury history.
