1 year agoRoss Chastain is fighting to keep his Championship hopes alive at Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend, but he didn't do himself any favors in qualifying, as the No. 1 Chevrolet ended up just 23rd-fastest out of the 36 cars entered in the race. Chastain was the fourth-slowest Playoff driver in qualifying, only beating out Ricky Stenhouse Jr, Joey Logano, and Kyle Larson. With that being said, during practice on Friday, Chastain showed decent speed, posting the 11th-fastest lap and ranking 14th-fastest in ten-lap average. He came home with a sixth-place finish here in Thunder Valley last season, and with an 18-point cushion over the cut line heading into Saturday night's race, a result like that would more than likely get Chastain into the Round of 12.--Jordan McAbee
