1 year agoOne big surprise during qualifying at Bristol Motor Speedway on Friday evening was Corey Lajoie, who made it into the final round and will start the Bass Pro Shops Night Race from the fifth row (10th place). In 10 career attempts at Bristol, Lajoie has never started better than 26th place, so this is a major upgrade for him. Lajoie was able to wheel his No. 7 Chevrolet to a 15th-place finish in last year's fall race at Bristol and will hope to do the same thing this weekend. He finished in 14th place at Dover earlier this year, which is a track somewhat comparable to Bristol. Lajoie isn't a viable option in DFS contests, but he could surprise some people on Saturday night. He was sixth-fastest on the speed chart in practice this weekend.--Jordan McAbee
