Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones was a fifth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. The veteran running back has been a fantasy star for the past few years.
Jones has had at least 1,190 scrimmage yards in four consecutive seasons. Furthermore, he had over 1,500 scrimmage yards in 2019 and last year. When the Packers traded Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets this offseason, fantasy players were excited to see the veteran running back’s role on offense this season.
With Jordan Love taking over under center, many believed Jones would become the focal point on offense. However, did that happen in Week 1, or did the veteran running back struggle?

What Did Aaron Jones Accomplish In Week 1?
The former Texas-El Paso star was outstanding in Week 1. Jones had only nine rushing attempts in the game but for 41 yards and a touchdown, averaging 4.6 yards per rushing attempt. More importantly, he had two receptions on four targets for 86 receiving yards and a touchdown against the Chicago Bears. Jones scored 25.7 half-point PPR fantasy points in the win.
Unfortunately, the veteran running back suffered a hamstring injury in the victory over the divisional rivals.
Is Aaron Jones Playing In Week 2?
Jones didn’t return to the Week 1 matchup after suffering the injury. However, the star running back says he could have returned if the game wasn’t a blowout. Yet, fantasy players should be concerned about his availability for Sunday’s matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.
The former Texas-El Paso didn’t practice on Wednesday or Thursday because of the hamstring injury. If he misses practice on Friday, fantasy players should look for replacement options on their bench or waiver wire.
If the Packers don’t have the star running back this week, AJ Dillon will be the starter. The former Boston College star had 13 rushing attempts for 19 yards and two receptions for 17 receiving yards in Week 1, scoring 4.6 fantasy points.
Meanwhile, the Falcons struggled to slow down Miles Sanders and Chuba Hubbard last week. The Carolina Panthers running back had 27 rushing attempts for 132 yards and 17.7 fantasy points in Week 1 against Atlanta.
Fantasy players should consider Dillon a mid-level RB2 this week if Jones can’t play. Meanwhile, Jones has top-10 upside if he plays in Week 2.
