New Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed flashed in a limited role as a rookie last season, catching 28 passes for 488 yards and two touchdowns. He was viewed as a fantasy football sleeper heading into 2023.
The undrafted speedster delivered a solid fantasy outing in Week 1, putting him on the fantasy football radar ahead of waiver wire Wednesday or Thursday.

What Did Rashid Shaheed Do In Week 1?
In the Week 1 victory over the Tennessee Titans, Shaheed caught five of his six targets for 89 yards and a touchdown and rushed twice for 11 yards. He scored the only touchdown of the game and caught a huge pass to convert a third down that essentially sealed the game for New Orleans.
He finished behind Chris Olave (10) and Michael Thomas (eight) in targets, but scored the most fantasy points and was clearly a trusted target for quarterback Derek Carr in his first game with the franchise.
Should I Pickup Rashid Shaheed Off the Waiver Wire in Fantasy Football?
While Shaheed delivered a strong Week 1 stat line, it's important not to overact to Week 1 results. He's still likely the third or fourth option in the Saints' passing attack and has a boom-or-bust profile that can leave fantasy managers disappointed in traditional "start 'em, sit" leagues. That said, he's not a must-add in 12-team leagues.
Fantasy managers playing in best ball leagues that allow in-season transactions or 14-team leagues should absolutely pick him up because of his spike week upside.
His best value is likely as a bench stash given the well-documented injury troubles of Michael Thomas. If Thomas has to miss any time this year, Shaheed would become in great flex play in most matchups.
The Saints square off with the Carolina Panthers in Week 2, who boast a talented secondary but suspect run defense. This could be an ugly NFC South contest, so tread carefully with Shaheed if you do decide to pick him up.
