Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season ended with a bang, as the New York Jets came back from a 10-point deficit to defeat the Buffalo Bills in overtime on a punt return touchdown.
However, the biggest storyline of the game was obviously the injury to future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The 39-year-old was banged up on the team's first offensive drive and did not return to action.
Is Aaron Rodgers out for the season? Is Zach Wilson worth picking up for fantasy football? Let's dive in.

Is Aaron Rodgers Out for the Season?
An MRI exam confirmed what the New York Jets feared on Monday night: that four-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) suffered a complete tear of his left Achilles in the win over the Buffalo Bills, according to sources. The 39-year-old future Hall of Famer tore his Achilles on the first offensive series of the night and will now miss the entire 2023 season.
Even though the Jets rallied to beat Buffalo in overtime to close out Week 1, it's a crushing blow to the Jets the rest of the way. Former first-rounder Zach Wilson, who has struggled so far in his NFL career, will now be the starter under center moving forward.
Should I Pickup Zach Wilson for Fantasy Football?
In single-quarterback fantasy football leagues, Wilson is likely not worth picking up. The third-year quarterback has completed just over 55% of his passes for 4,162 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 19 interceptions in 23 career games.
Even with a talented pass-catching group headlined by Garrett Wilson, it's tough to envision Wilson becoming a viable fantasy starter.
In two-QB and Superflex leagues, Wilson is a must-add. All starting quarterbacks should be rostered in those formats given the scarcity of the position. It's make-or-break time for Wilson and his career has new life. We'll see if he makes the most of it.
