Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins was the 89th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Collins had a solid college career, totaling 78 receptions for 1,388 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns in three years at Michigan.
Unfortunately, the former Wolverine wide receiver had a quiet rookie season. He had 33 receptions on 60 targets for 446 receiving yards and a touchdown in 2021. Collins was a popular sleeper candidate last year.
However, he had similar numbers compared to the year before. The former Michigan wide receiver had 37 receptions on 66 targets for 481 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Yet, fantasy players had high hopes for Collins this season.

What Did Nico Collins Accomplish In Week 1?
The former Wolverine was a popular third-year breakout candidate this offseason. Thankfully, Collins got off to a strong start this year. He had six receptions on 11 targets for 80 receiving yards in Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens, scoring 11 half-point PPR fantasy points.
More importantly, the third-year wide receiver made himself the clear-cut No. 1 wide receiver in Houston. Collins led the team in receptions, targets, and receiving yards against the Ravens. He also was a downfield threat for C.J. Stroud.
Is Nico Collins A Good Fantasy Football Pickup For Week 2?
Fantasy players should make the former Michigan wide receiver their top waiver wire target this week. The third-year wide receiver should have gotten drafted in all standard-size leagues.
Last year, Collins averaged 7.9 half-point PPR fantasy points per game, finishing the season as the WR48 on a points-per-game basis. He averaged only 0.5 fewer fantasy points per game than Drake London. Yet, the former Wolverine got drafted several rounds later than London, if at all.
More importantly, Collins was part of an elite group in Week 1. He was one of only 15 wide receivers with double-digit targets heading into Monday Night Football.
Meanwhile, the Texans face the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2. The Colts have arguably the worst cornerback unit in the NFL after trading away Stephon Gilmore this offseason. Last week, Calvin Ridley had eight receptions on 11 targets for 101 receiving yards and one touchdown against Indianapolis, scoring 20.1 fantasy points.
