1 year agoLos Angeles Angels designated hitter Shohei Ohtani (oblique) is back in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the Mariners and right-hander Logan Gilbert. Oblique inflammation has sidelined the two-way star for the last week but he will return and hit second Monday night in Seattle. Of course, it's been a massive season for Ohtani who has hit .304 with 44 home runs and 20 stolen bases across 599 plate appearances while tossing a 3.14 ERA along with a 31.5% K% across 132 innings on the mound. While he won't pitch for the remainder of the 2023 season due to an elbow issue, Ohtani appears set to reclaim everyday DH duties when healthy down the stretch.--Brenton Kemp
