Zach Ertz Quiet In 20-16 Week 1 Defeat
1 year agoArizona Cardinals tight end Zach Ertz was quiet in his team's Week 1 loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday afternoon. Ertz caught six passes on 10 targets in the 20-16 defeat. The Cardinals offense as a whole struggled mightily on the day, and Ertz's numbers were symbolic of the performance. Ertz led the team in catches yet saw his longest gain go for only six yards. Second-year tight end Trey McBride also caught two passes for 23 yards. Assuming Arizona continues to rebuild, there is a possibility Ertz could be traded or outplayed by McBride as the season continues. In the meantime, he has a Week 2 matchup on the docket against the New York Giants, a team Ertz has not faced since 2019, and who just got beat badly by the Dallas Cowboys. Until he's able to get things going, Ertz should remain on benches in fantasy leagues.
