Week 2 of college football is over and we saw a number of impressive performances this week. Six wide receivers went over 150 yards, led by Miami (OH) wideout Gage Larvadain who caught eight passes for 272 yards and three touchdowns. He was one of three players to catch three touchdowns, joining Miami (not OH)'s Jacolby George and West Virginia's Hudson Clement.
One thing I want to do every week here, since there's not an article specifically for them is shoutout the top tight end of the week. This week, that honor goes to Notre Dame's Holden Staes, who caught four passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns. He was the only tight end with multiple scores.
Below are the top five wide receiver performances from Week 2 of the college football season. These are judged through a combination of statistics, fantasy scoring, and game context, with consideration also given based on the team's offensive systems. Let's take a look at this week's top performances.

5. Evan Stewart - Texas A&M
Putting Evan Stewart here might be controversial, as the second-year wide receiver failed to find the end zone for Texas A&M. Overall, it was a very productive showing for Stewart, as he caught 11 passes for 142 yards. Just one wide receiver, Florida Atlantic's Lajohntay Wester, had more receptions than Stewart did in Week 1, while Utah State's Terrell Vaughn equaled Stewart.
The much-hyped Stewart had a pretty good freshman campaign, but his second collegiate season is already shaping up to be a breakout year for the former high school star at Frisco Liberty in Frisco, Texas.
Last week, Stewart had eight catches for 115 yards and two scores against New Mexico. This week, he set a new career high in receiving yardage. The sky's the limit for Stewart going forward.
4. Hudson Clement - West Virginia
I don't think many people thought West Virginia would be decent this year. One of the worst Power Five teams on paper, the Mountaineers played Penn State tough in Week 1 and had a 56-17 win over FCS Duquesne this week. Obviously, a win over Duquesne tells us nothing about this team, but the way they played Penn State for much of the day was a good sign.
Hudson Clement had a big game for the Mountaineers on Saturday, catching five passes for 177 yards and three touchdowns. He was especially good in the second quarter, catching touchdowns of 70 and 46 yards in the span of three minutes.
The freshman didn't record a catch in Week 1 against Penn State, but this week's showing should help him earn more targets going forward. The former MaxPreps West Virginia Player of the Year in high school redshirted last year, but he looks to be a big part of this team going forward.
Plus, the walk-on earned a scholarship after this performance. Great work, man!
3. Xavier Weaver - Colorado
The big story last week for Colorado was Travis Hunter playing elite football at wide receiver and defensive back. This week, Hunter was a little more quiet, but still had a good game, catching three passes for 73 yards and also recording four tackles.
As far as standouts at receiver this week go, Xavier Weaver gets the nod. On a team that has Hunter and Jimmy Horn Jr., it can be hard for another receiver to make an impact, but Weaver had 10 catches for 170 yards and a touchdown.
Weaver, who spent his first four seasons at South Florida, now has back-to-back 100-yard games to begin his time at Colorado. There's plenty of firepower on this Buffaloes squad, but don't forget about Weaver. He's a very talented player who currently sits fourth in FBS in receiving yards.
2. Marvin Harrison Jr. - Ohio State
Marvin Harrison Jr. is the biggest name on this week's list. The future first-round NFL pick caught seven passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns against Youngstown State.
For most of these players, I try to write a lot of words because they're guys who a lot of people aren't aware of. We know Harrison. He's a future star who had 1,263 yards and 14 touchdowns last season. He's arguably the best wide receiver in college football and will have multiple games like this all season.
1. Gage Larvadain - Miami (OH)
Look, I watch a lot of college football, but I'll admit that I had no idea who Gage Larvadain was until this weekend. He came to Miami this season after two years at Southeastern Louisiana, a Southland program. I probably should have known about Larvadain because I actually did watch plenty of Southland football, but I've fallen off on that in the last couple of years.
Larvadain's FBS career began with a strong showing against the other Miami, as he caught eight passes for 80 yards in the Week 1 loss. That was nothing compared to what he did on Saturday.
That's right. Larvadain scored a 99-yard touchdown in Saturday's win over UMass. The QB lifted the ball up and Larvadain caught it in stride, then outran the defense. That wasn't his only big play. Overall, he caught eight passes for 273 yards and three touchdowns. He was the only receiver to finish with over 200 yards in Week 2.
