Pit Crew Change Proves Disastrous For Christopher Bell
1 year agoChristopher Bell started off strong in the Cook Out Southern 500 but unfortunately faced a series of setbacks resulting in a 23rd-place finish. Prior to the race weekend, Joe Gibbs Racing made the decision to switch Bell's crew with Ty Gibbs' crew in an attempt to improve the No. 20's speed on pit road. However, the switch proved to be disastrous as a slow pit stop on lap 34 hindered what was an impressive run. Unfortunately, the team was unable to recover from the setback. Mechanical issues were reported on lap 129, and an incident in stage two caused the 28-year-old to spin out, slowing him even further. Next week, Bell will aim to bounce back at Kansas, a track he finished 36th at earlier this season.
