Sebastian Walcott Promoted to High-A
1 year agoTexas Rangers shortstop prospect Sebastian Walcott was promoted to High-A Hickory on Saturday. The 17-year-old posted a .273/.325/.524 slash line with seven home runs and nine stolen bases across 35 games in the Arizona Complex League. Walcott is understandably several years of development away from the majors, but he's already excelling on both offense and defense. He showcases tremendous bat speed alongside 55-grade power and 55-grade running. Walcott expects to fill out in the coming years, and while he may lose some speed, his power potential is that of a 30-plus home run producer. Per MLB Pipeline, Walcott is the eighth-ranked prospect in the Rangers' farm system and is the No. 64 prospect in baseball. There's nothing actionable for fantasy managers right now, but Walcott will be a name worth tracking.
