Welcome to The Watchlist for September, RotoBallers! This is the third year covering FPL on the site, and we are bringing you more coverage than ever before. We will publish the Gameweek Preview, consisting of a Staff Roundtable and our rankings every week. Then, once a month, we will publish our newest article, The Watchlist.
Man City got off to a flyer in August, and we are all trying to triple up on their attacking assets. However, European competitions are on the horizon and could send FPL managers flocking towards those teams without continental commitments like Chelsea, Spurs, and Brentford.
The Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 5 deadline is 6:00 AM EST on Saturday, September 16, for the Wolves-Liverpool game. Also, look out for the rest of our excellent soccer coverage as the squad gets you all set for every English Premier League, Major League Soccer, and UEFA Champions League slate from a DFS and betting perspective.

Fantasy Premier League Five To Watch
Bruno Fernandes
- Bruno had one spike game this season (Nottingham Forest) but failed to deliver in the other three. However, with a favorable run for Manchester United, he is a strong hold in our FPL lineups for September.
Kieran Trippier
- The fixtures (AVL, MCI, LIV, BHA) were miserable for Newcastle, but a good turn is coming. Trippier was the highest-scoring defender last season and is looking to prove he's not a one-hit-wonder during the Magpies' upcoming schedule.
James Maddison
- Look past the tough-on-paper Arsenal fixture, and you'll see a runway for James Maddison to become a must-have asset in Fantasy Premier League. He's fit seamlessly into this Spurs lineup, and they may have found something with Son Heung-min in the No. 9 role against Burnley. If Maddo and Son are firing, Spurs will be an offensive juggernaut.
Mark Flekken
- If you are on a Wildcard, Mark Flekken is the goalkeeper to go after. Brentford resumes the international break with a tough fixture against Newcastle but then meets Everton and Nottingham Forest in back-to-back contests. Flekken's looked the best of the £4.5m goalkeepers through the first four weeks, and this Brentford system is set up for its shot-stopper to score FPL points.
Nico Jackson
- By the end of September, we will know if Nico Jackson is the next best thing in FPL or a Darwin Nunez 2.0. The chances continue to fall his way, but he's only grabbed one goal this season. With Bournemouth, Aston Villa, and Fulham on his schedule, FPL managers will need a couple of returns at least to keep Chelsea' new signing in their squads.
