Deneric Prince Rejoins Chiefs As A Member Of The Practice Squad
2 years agoKansas City Chiefs running Deneric Prince is now a member of the team's practice squad. The undrafted rookie was waived by the team on Tuesday as they cut their roster down to 53 players. The rookie out of Tulsa impressed early on in OTA's and training camp, creating theories that he could make the team. So, it came as no surprise that the Chiefs wanted him back in the building. Veteran running back La'Mical Perine is also a member of the practice squad. Isiah Pacheco, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and Jerick McKinnon will serve as the backs on Kansas City's active roster.

Deneric Prince The No. 2 Running Back On Tuesday
9 months agoKansas City Chiefs running back Deneric Prince was the first RB in after starter Isiah Pacheco during the run period of the team's training camp practice on Tuesday. Prince went undrafted last year and spent most of his rookie season in the NFL on the practice squad. He was active for just two games and didn't play any offensive snaps. We aren't making any predictions on the order of KC's depth chart after a few practices, but Prince certainly has a shot at a bigger role in 2024 in the Chiefs offense, especially if Clyde Edwards-Helaire continues to disappoint. The defending Super Bowl champions re-signed CEH in the offseason and brought in rugby star Louis Rees-Zammit, but other than that, there weren't any notable additions to their backfield. For now, Prince is merely a name to watch in KC's backfield.

Carson Steele, Deneric Prince Could Compete For Touches
10 months agoKansas City Chiefs running back Carson Steele and Deneric Prince are behind second-team running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire on the depth chart this offseason, but either player could enter the fantasy football radar in 2024 if the backfield is on the wrong side of injury luck. Steele, a rookie undrafted free agent, rushed for 847 yards and six touchdowns and caught 17 passes for 163 yards and two scores in his final collegiate season at UCLA. According to Charles Goldman of AtoZ Sports, he has impressed the team this summer. "Prince seems to be the running back poised to sneak into the rotation," Goldman wrote. "But watch out for Steele, who impressed during his opportunities at mandatory minicamp." Prince spent last season with the Chiefs but played in just two games and did not record a touch. With Jerick McKinnon not currently on the roster, one of the team's young undrafted backs could push Edwards-Helaire for the RB2 role. Even if CEH holds onto the backup spot, Kansas City's RB3 should be monitored in deep fantasy football leagues.

Chiefs Sign Deneric Prince To Futures Deal
1 year agoThe Kansas City Chiefs signed running backs Deneric Prince and Keaontay Ingram, defensive tackles Isaiah Buggs and Matt Dickerson, safety Trey Dean, linebacker Truman Jones, cornerback Keith Taylor, tight end Izaiah Gathings and wide receiver Montrell Washington To Reserve/Future deals on Wednesday. Prince is the biggest name of the group. The 23-year-old signed with Kansas City as an undrafted free agent in 2023 and spent time on their practice squad after impressing the coaching staff during training camp last summer. He was active for two games last season but didn't touch the ball at all on offense and will now return to the Chiefs in 2024 as extra running back depth for the Super Bowl champions.

Deneric Prince Elevated To Active Roster
1 year agoKansas City Chiefs running back Deneric Prince has been elevated to the active roster ahead of Sunday's Week 14 contest against the Buffalo Bills. This move makes sense with Isiah Pacheco (shoulder) being ruled out for this game. Clyde Edwards-Helaire will operate as the team's starting back, according to head coach Andy Reid and Jerick McKinnon is likely to mix on passing downs as well. Prince has a chance to be in the mix on Sunday, however, especially if the game script favors the Chiefs. He's nothing more than a desperation dart throw FLEX play from a fantasy perspective but it should be fun to see the training camp hero in action.
