Arizona Cardinals quarterback Clayton Tune was the 139th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Tune had an outstanding five-year career at Houston.
The former Cougar had a limited impact his first two years in school, totaling only 2,328 passing yards and 19 touchdowns compared to 11 interceptions. However, he had a solid season in 2020 with 2,048 yards and 15 touchdowns compared to 10 interceptions in eight games.
Tune had a breakout season the following year, throwing for 3,544 yards and 30 touchdowns compared to 10 interceptions. Instead of declaring for the 2022 NFL Draft, the former Cougar returned to school and had a career year. Tune had 4,074 passing yards and 40 touchdowns compared to 10 interceptions last season.

Should I Draft Clayton Tune With Kyler Murray On The PUP List?
According to the RotoBaller ADP, Tune isn’t getting drafted in most redraft leagues. However, should he be an option in superflex drafts?
Murray will start the 2023 season on the Physically Unable to Perform list. That means the star quarterback will miss at least the first four games this year. More importantly, Arizona recently released the veteran Colt McCoy.
The veteran was the favorite to start opening weekend, with Murray unable to play. Now Joshua Dobbs or Tune will start the Week 1 matchup against the Washington Commanders.
Reportedly, Dobbs is the favorite to get the start against Washington. While the rookie had some positive moments during the preseason, the Cardinals recently traded meaningful draft capital for the veteran quarterback.
What Other Late-Round Quarterbacks Should I Draft Instead Of Clayton Tune?
Instead of drafting Tune, fantasy players should consider other late-round quarterbacks like Sam Howell, Ryan Tannehill, and Desmond Ridder.
Howell was outstanding in the Week 2 preseason matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. He completed 76% of his pass attempts for 188 yards and two touchdowns in the first half of the game.
If fantasy players miss out on Howell, Ridder is an appealing fallback option. The former Cincinnati Bearcat only played four games as a rookie. However, he had a solid performance to end the season, totaling 224 passing yards, two touchdowns, and 15.9 fantasy points in the Week 18 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
More importantly, Ridder has three elite weapons – Kyle Pitts, Drake London, and Bijan Robinson. Furthermore, the Falcons have one of the top offensive lines in the NFL.
