Orelvis Martinez Continues Strong Season In The Minors
1 year agoToronto Blue Jays prospect Orelvis Martinez has continued his strong offensive season, bouncing back from a horrid start to 2023. One month into the season, the shortstop was sitting at just .089/.159/.240 with three home runs. Since then, Martinez has hit .269/.377/.539 with 20 HRs in 87 games, including a July promotion to Triple-A Buffalo. The 21-year-old appears on most post-draft Top-100 lists and has answered some concerns regarding his on-base skills as he has hit .242/.344/.496 in 102 games. Even without an opening at shortstop, the bat could still play somewhere in Toronto in the coming weeks. Martinez could provide a power boost over the final stretch of this season and could earn a regular role in 2024.
