Michael McDowell's Car May Have Issues After Being Slowest In Qualifying
1 year agoHere's something to keep an eye on for Saturday night's race at Daytona International Speedway. Michael McDowell qualified in 39th-place (out of 39 cars) for this weekend's Coke Zero Sugar 400, a definite disappointment for him and the Front Row Motorsports team. However, the cause of this is likely an issue with the car itself. After the qualifying session, McDowell told Fox Sports' Bob Pockrass that the car had an issue in qualifying and that he hopes NASCAR will let the No. 34 team diagnose the issue. If they do, McDowell will have to go to the rear of the field at the start of the race due to unapproved adjustments, but he's already back there anyway because of where he qualified. If the team isn't able to diagnose the issue, this is noteworthy for DFS players because McDowell will likely be the highest-owned driver on the Saturday night slate. However, if his car isn't able to fully get up to speed, that will definitely limit his finishing position upside.
