Mac Jones Not Expected To Play In Friday's Preseason Finale
1 year agoNew England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones is not expected to play in the team's final preseason game on Friday against the Tennessee Titans. Jones is the Patriots' Week 1 starter so there's no point throwing him out there for the finale and risking an injury. The 24-year-old signal-caller is looking to bounce back from a poor 2022 season in which he threw for just 2,997 yards with 14 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. The Patriots coaching staff did him no favors, though, as head coach Bill Belichick had Matt Patricia and Joe Judge calling plays. Things are looking brighter with former NFL head coach and ex-Patriots OC Bill O'Brien coming back to New England to call plays and coach up Jones. The Pats have a tough Week 1 opener, however, as they host the reigning NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles. Jones projects as a QB2 for this upcoming season.
