Anthony Rizzo Taking Batting Practice
1 year agoNew York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo (concussion) was seen hitting home runs in batting practice at Yankee Stadium on Thursday. Rizzo said he was encouraged about his progress from post-concussion syndrome, and the expectation is he'll be back before the end of the season. However, the Yankees are taking his recovery week-to-week. The 34-year-old left-handed slugger has been out since Aug. 1 and probably won't be back in the Yankees lineup until sometime in September, but it remains to be seen if he'll require a minor-league rehab assignment before returning. The three-time All-Star has hit .244/.328/.378 this year with 12 home runs, 14 doubles, 41 RBI and 45 runs scored in 99 games before suffering a head injury. DJ LeMahieu is seeing most of the playing time at first base with Rizzo sidelined.
