Sean Clifford To Serve As Backup Quarterback
1 year agoGreen Bay Packers rookie fifth-round quarterback Sean Clifford was named the backup QB by head coach Matt LaFleur on Thursday. Clifford led the league in passing yards per game and ranked third in completion percentage through two preseason games. By the first week of training camp, he had passed Danny Etling, who spent all of last season on the practice squad, on the QB depth chart. Clifford said he didn't really start to feel comfortable until midway through the offseason program. The 25-year-old's improvisational skills on the field have been impressive and he has regularly made one of the hardest drills for a QB look routine. Clifford played five seasons at Penn State and started 46 games, so he has plenty of game experience.
