Lions Waive Denzel Mims With Injury Settlement
1 year agoThe Detroit Lions waived wide receiver Denzel Mims (calf) from Injured Reserve with an injury settlement on Thursday. If Mims clears waivers, he'll become a free agent on Friday and will be free to sign with any NFL team. The Lions acquired Mims from the New York Jets in a trade before training camp, but the 25-year-old was bothered by ankle and calf injuries and ultimately wasn't able to earn a spot on Detroit's roster. Mims has been a bust since the Jets took him in the second round of the 2020 draft out of Baylor. In his three seasons in New York, he caught 42 of his 92 targets for 676 yards and no touchdowns in 30 games (15 starts). It's possible that the Jets consider reuniting with him due to a recent injury to Allen Lazard (shoulder) and the retirement of Corey Davis this week.
