The first round of recent NFL Drafts has delivered the star wide receivers of today and tomorrow. In 2020, Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb, and Jerry Jeudy entered the league. 2021 brought us Ja'Marr Chase, Jaylen Waddle, and DeVonta Smith. Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave already showed their potential in their rookie seasons last year (plus Jahan Dotson and Treylon Burks are in that class).
Now, we have a new crop of first-round picks: Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Quentin Johnston, Zay Flowers, and Jordan Addison. JSN was the first of the group, selected 20th overall by the Seattle Seahawks, who the team is billing as a breakout star. Garrett Wilson, who played with Smith-Njigba at Ohio State, called the rookie a better wide receiver than himself and Olave. The 21-year-old, after all, did set the school's single-season records in receptions (95) and receiving yards (1,606) in 2021.
But in order to break out, you have to be on the field. Smith-Njigba missed a majority of his final season at Ohio State with a hamstring injury. Now, he is in jeopardy of missing the start of his rookie campaign.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba Injury Update For Fantasy Football
Smith-Njigba is undergoing surgery on his wrist in Philadelphia. He suffered the fracture on a long completion in the second quarter of Seattle's preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday night.
He could return before the start of the regular season but coach Pete Carroll is estimating the recovery to take 3-4 weeks.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook
The 21-year-old has impressed in his first training camp, fueling the belief that he'll have a big debut season in the NFL. That's despite a less-than-ideal landing spot in Seattle, which already rosters D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. So far, he's performing like too big of a weapon to keep off of the field.
Stick with RotoBaller for updates on Smith-Njigba's recovery. The injury may cause the ex-Buckeye to slip in drafts, meaning you can cash in on good value. He is still worth selecting as a WR3/4 in redraft leagues and there's no reason to shy away from him in dynasty formats.
