Julius Chestnut Trending Toward Making Active Roster
Julius Chestnut has been impressive in the team's two preseason games thus far, handling 20 carries for 144 yards (7.2 YPC) and one rushing touchdown. As a receiver, he's hauled in three passes for 16 yards and a score. He's also impressed head coach Mike Vrabel on special teams, which is key for reserve running backs to make the active roster. "He's a worker, probably one of the best finishers on our football team," Vrabel said. "You guys watch practice. You see No. 36 hauling down the field when he doesn't have the ball, that's how he plays without the football." Chestnut could be staking a claim for the RB3 job behind Derrick Henry and Tyjae Spears, meaning Hassan Haskins, Jonathan Ward, and Jacques Patrick could be at risk of being released.

Julius Chestnut Could Lead RB Committee Against Texans
Julius Chestnut could see more snaps in the regular season finale versus the Houston Texans. Lead running Tony Pollard (ankle) is listed as questionable, and fellow back Tyjae Spears (concussion) is out for the game. Pollard was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday and then did not participate on Friday, so fantasy managers will have to monitor his status before deciding on the Titans backfield. According to ESPN's Turron Davenport, Chestnut will be part of a committee with Joshua Kelley and Jabari Small this weekend if Pollard can't go. He was the leading option as a replacement for Spears in Week 17 after a mid-game injury, logging 17 yards on three attempts. Even if he does get a bulk of the carries, there's not enough substance yet to warrant a fantasy start for Chestnut against Houston.

Julius Chestnut Fills In At RB Amidst Injuries
Julius Chestnut ran for 17 yards on three carries after replacing an injured Tyjae Spears (concussion) in the third quarter during Sunday's 20-13 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Chestnut is third in line at his position after lead back Tony Pollard (ankle, illness) also missed the Week 17 matchup against Jacksonville. Chestnut hasn't seen much action so far this season–totaling just 17 carries throughout the 2024 campaign before this week–but could see a massive uptick if Pollard is unable to suit up against Houston for the final game of the year. Spears has already been ruled out against the Texans. Fantasy managers will have to monitor the depth chart as the week goes on, but for now Chestnut seems to be the top healthy option for Tennessee going into Week 18.

Julius Chestnut Not A Fantasy Option For Week 13
Julius Chestnut has been sparingly involved throughout the 2024-25 campaign. With Tyjae Spears (concussion) sidelined for the Week 12 win over the Houston Texans, Chestnut had a chance to get more involved. However, that didn't happen, with the 24-year-old amassing only one carry for three yards and adding one catch for two yards. Spears is still listed as questionable for the Week 13 encounter with the Washington Commanders, although he's moving in the right direction. But even if Spears doesn't suit up, Chestnut shouldn't be anywhere near a starting fantasy lineup.

Julius Chestnut Better Left On Waivers in Week 12 Vs. Houston
Tennessee Titans running back Julius Chestnut will be the next man up in Sunday's matchup against the Houston Texans after Tyjae Spears (concussion) was ruled out on Friday. The third-year Titan had helped spell Tony Pollard when Spears missed time earlier in the season but has yet to receive much work. The former undrafted free agent out of Sacred Heart has not played over 20% of snaps all season, failing to top a mere four points in half-PPR scoring, even with Spears gone from Weeks 7-9. Chestnut faces a top-10 rush defense in the NFL and should be left on the waiver wires in most league formats.
