1 year agoTy Gibbs may technically be a rookie in the Cup Series this season, but he's performing like a veteran as of late. With his 5th-place finish at Watkins Glen on Sunday afternoon, Gibbs has now finished inside the top 15 in each of the last five races. He also has a 5th-place finish at Pocono during that span, which came back in July. In addition to the good finishes as of late, Ty is also in the running for a Playoffs berth next weekend. Heading into the regular season finale at Daytona next weekend, Gibbs is 32 points behind Bubba Wallace for the final spot in the postseason--a deficit that can definitely be made up a single race, especially one like Daytona. Gibbs could also punch his ticket to the Playoffs by winning at Daytona next weekend. Even if he doesn't earn a spot in the postseason this year, though, it's safe to say that this has been one of the most impressive rookie campaigns that the NASCAR Cup Series has seen in quite some time. --Jordan McAbee
