AJ Dillon Handles Six Carries In Preseason Loss
1 year agoGreen Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon took six carries for 25 yards during the team's 21-17 preseason loss to the New England Patriots. The 25-year-old was given more reps this week compared to last week's preseason game against the Bengals and had a solid outing finishing with 4.2 yards per carry on the night. It seems clear that Aaron Jones will be the starter and see most of the reps out of the backfield, much like last season, but Dillon will have a shot to receiver 200 or so carries in an offense that could look to rely on the run game more in 2023. The third-year back carries extra value as the clear touch leader if anything happens to Jones, but he should be a weekly flex option regardless of the veteran's health. It is unclear if we will see any of the Packers starters next week against Seattle after the first-team offense has seen reps the past two weeks, so this may have been the last preseason action from Dillon in 2023.
