Jaxon Smith-Njigba Burns Trevon Diggs For 48-Yard Catch
1 year agoSeattle Seahawks rookie wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba caught all three of his targets for 58 yards on Saturday night against the Dallas Cowboys. His third catch in the contest demonstrated why fantasy managers are riding the rookie's hype train. With the Seahawks lined up at midfield, Smith-Njigba separated from cornerback Trevon Diggs with minimal effort and contorted himself to reel in a Drew Lock pass coming in over his back shoulder. From there it was off to the races, with Diggs finally catching up to stop the play at the one-yard line after a 48-yard gain. Managers who are drafting Smith-Njigba with hopes that he will replicate his Ohio State classmate Chris Olave's rookie season should temper their expectations. Playing out of the slot this season behind Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf, JSN will not see the targets that Olave did in 2022, but he can operate as a sufficient WR3, taking advantage of defenses preoccupied with his teammates.
