Former New England Patriots running back Damien Harris signed a one-year, $1.77 million deal with the Buffalo Bills this offseason. He was projected to be the Bills RB3 behind James Cook and Nyheim Hines, but an injury to the latter will now make Harris their RB2.
Last season, the 26-year-old running back had 106 carries for 462 yards and scored three touchdowns in 11 games. He has dealt with injuries throughout his career, and his tenure at the Bills hasn't started well either.
In this article, we will discuss how Harris got hurt and what is his current status as many fantasy football managers are keeping an eye on him for the upcoming draft.

Damien Harris is Working His Way Back to Fitness
Damien Harris suffered a knee injury last week and is currently not practicing with the team. He's dealing with soreness and is trying to get healthier by cycling on the sidelines and doing motion drills with Von Miller.
The injury is not considered serious, and it is expected that the former Patriots running back will be available to play against the New York Jets in Week 1. The Bills have already lost Hines for the whole season, and after failing to sign Dalvin Cook, they need Cook, Harris, and Latavius Murray healthy.
The Bills, despite being one of the best teams in the NFL, don't have a strong running attack. If more backfield injuries occur, they might find themselves in trouble once again. Josh Allen is a dual-threat quarterback, but the franchise would like to avoid putting more pressure on him like they did last season.
Patriots Have Replaced Damien Harris With Ezekiel Elliott
Damien Harris was drafted by the Patriots in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Since then, he has struggled with injuries. In his rookie season, he missed 14 games; later in his second season, he missed six more games. In the 2021 NFL season, he was able to play 15 games. Last season the injury bug bit once again, and he missed six games.
Last year, he dealt with multiple hamstring issues, and the Patriots ultimately decided to move on from him. After losing Harris in free agency, the Patriots have replaced him with Ezekiel Elliott, who, despite his decline, hasn't missed many games.
The best ability is availability, which is why fantasy managers who are keeping an eye on Harris must be mindful that he is an injury-prone player.
