Arizona Cardinals tight end Zach Ertz was the 35th overall pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2013 NFL Draft. Ertz had a productive college career, totaling 112 receptions for 1,434 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns in three years at Stanford.
More importantly, the former second-round pick had a slow start to his NFL career. Ertz averaged 61.8 receptions on 91 targets for 710 receiving yards and 3.3 touchdowns in 15.3 games per year over his first four NFL seasons. However, things changed in 2017.
That year the veteran tight end made his first of three consecutive pro bowl teams. Furthermore, he had eight receiving touchdowns in 2017 and 2018 while averaging 133 targets per season. However, Ertz’s time in Philadelphia ended in 2021 when the Eagles traded the star tight end to the Cardinals.

What Did Zach Ertz Accomplish In 2022?
Last year was the veteran tight end’s first full season in Arizona. Ertz had another productive year, totaling 47 receptions on 69 targets for 406 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 10 games. Furthermore, the former Stanford tight end led the team in receiving touchdowns despite missing nearly half the year.
More importantly, the veteran was the TE3, averaging 10 half-point PPR fantasy points per game over the first nine weeks last season. He averaged more fantasy points per game than several big-name tight ends, including George Kittle, Kyle Pitts, and Darren Waller.
Unfortunately, Ertz suffered a torn ACL in the Week 10 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, ending his season. Furthermore, the Cardinals believed the veteran tight end would miss the start of the 2023 season recovering from the injury.
Is Zach Ertz Injured Or Healthy?
The former Stanford star started training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list, as he was still recovering from the torn ACL. While many expected the veteran to miss several weeks this season, Ertz came off the Physically Unable to Perform list and partook in practice.
Arizona will welcome the veteran tight end back with open arms. After releasing DeAndre Hopkins this offseason, Marquise Brown is the team's only proven pass catcher besides Ertz. Furthermore, the former Stanford star finished third on the team in targets last season despite missing seven games.
