Daniel Suarez Finishes Third Following A Disastrous Pit Stop
1 year agoDaniel Suarez finished third in Sunday's Verizon 200 at the Brickyard and now sits one spot outside the playoffs, just 28 points below the cutoff line. Although a third-place finish is normally something to be proud of, for Trackhouse Racing, it will be a reminder of what could have been. After starting on the pole, the 31-year-old had a strong performance and looked to be a threat to win the race until a pit-road disaster ended any hope he had to take home the checkered flag. On Lap 49, when all four race leaders pitted, a hose got caught under the tire of the No. 99 car, adding nearly 10 seconds to the stop, which created too much separation between him and eventual race-winner Michael McDowell.
