Rashaad Penny Leads Team In Carries During Preseason Opener
1 year agoPhiladelphia Eagles running back Rashaad Penny took nine carries for 34 yards during the team's preseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The 27-year-old also drew a target but failed to haul it in. Some may be concerned to see Penny playing with the third-string offense, but both he and D'Andre Swift were given carries in this game. Kenneth Gainwell and Boston Scott got the day off, likely due to their familiarity with the offense, leaving Penny, Swift, and Trey Sermon as the three main backs this week. Swift looked much better in the early goings of this contest, but the run game never really got going for any Eagles back behind the backup offensive lineman. It will be interesting to see who draws the start next week when the Eagles take on the Cleveland Browns, but we may not have a clear answer as to who will be the "lead back" in this crowded running back room before the regular season starts.
