Nationals Moving To Six-Man Rotation
1 year agoThe Washington Nationals are going to experiment with a six-man starting rotation moving forward, which will help them manage the workloads of pitchers like left-hander MacKenzie Gore and right-hander Jake Irvin down the stretch. Gore was injured last year and has already tossed a career-high 117 innings this year. Irvin has also thrown a career-high 106 1/3 innings already in 2023 between the Nats and his time at Triple-A Rochester. In just his second big-league season, and first in Washington, Gore is 6-9 with a 4.62 ERA (4.61 FIP), 1.43 WHIP, 50 walks and 134 K's in his 117 innings. Irvin has posted a 4.93 ERA (5.46 FIP), 1.44 WHIP, 36 walks and 68 punchouts in 84 innings in his first 17 big-league starts.
