Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. went undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft. Yet, Wilson had a productive college career, totaling 561 rushing attempts for 3,207 yards and 32 touchdowns in his four-year college career. Furthermore, he had 70 receptions for 527 receiving yards and two touchdowns during his time at North Texas.
The undrafted free agent signed with the San Francisco 49ers in 2018. He barely saw the field over his first two years in the NFL, totaling 108 touches for 503 scrimmage yards and 16 games. However, Wilson did score five touchdowns in those 16 contests.
More importantly, he had a breakout season in 2020. That year he totaled 126 rushing attempts for 600 yards and seven touchdowns. He also had 13 receptions on 28 targets for 133 receiving yards and three touchdowns that season.

What Did Jeff Wilson Jr. Accomplish In 2022?
Unfortunately, the former undrafted free agent struggled with injuries in 2021, missing eight games. That year Wilson had only 86 touchdowns for 325 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns. However, he was better in 2022.
Last year Wilson started the season with San Francisco, totaling 92 rushing attempts for 468 yards and two touchdowns in eight games with the team. He also had 10 receptions on 13 targets for 91 receiving yards with the 49ers.
However, San Francisco traded the veteran running back to Miami after they acquired Christian McCaffrey from the Carolina Panthers.
Wilson played eight games with the Dolphins, totaling 84 rushing attempts for 392 yards and three touchdowns in eight games with the team. He also had 12 receptions on 24 targets for 94 receiving yards and a touchdown with Miami.
Is Jeff Wilson Jr. Injured Or Healthy?
Unfortunately, Wilson suffered a hand injury during Wednesday’s joint practice with the Atlanta Falcons. While the early belief is that the injury isn’t severe, fantasy players shouldn’t expect the veteran running back to play in Friday’s preseason matchup.
The former undrafted free agent is in an open competition this offseason. Miami re-signed Wilson and Raheem Mostert in free agency before adding De’Von Achane during the NFL Draft. While the rookie running back is a popular sleeper candidate, fantasy players shouldn’t rule out Wilson or Mostert winning the starting job to begin the season.
