Josh Jung Has Surgery Wednesday
1 year agoTexas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung (thumb) underwent successful left-thumb surgery on Wednesday to install a plate and screws to stabilize his thumb fracture. The plan is for Jung to stay with the team and rehab with the expectation that he will be able to return before the end of the season. With the 25-year-old expected to miss roughly six weeks of action after fracturing his thumb on Sunday, he's not going to have much time left to help fantasy managers when he does return. It's a shame because Jung had been excelling in his first full season in the big leagues with a .274/.323/.489 slash line, an .813 OPS, 22 home runs, 67 RBI and 70 runs scored in 109 games. Until he returns, expect the Rangers to mix and match at the hot corner with Ezequiel Duran and Josh H. Smith.
