Calgary Flames center Nazem Kadri had a lackluster debut campaign with the team, but he hopes to bounce back in 2023-24, along with a number of his teammates. "I think a lot of guys on the team are ready to kind of play to their potential," Kadri said this week. "For whatever reason, we got a little restricted last year, so I'm just looking forward to a clean slate and starting the year off strong." After signing a seven-year, $49 million deal as a free agent last offseason, Kadri put up only 56 points (24 goals, 32 assists) in 82 games, while being a team-worst minus-19. He now gets a fresh start under new leadership, with longtime assistant Ryan Huska replacing Darryl Sutter as head coach. "Any time you get fresh faces, it's just a new energy and a new enthusiasm," Kadri said of the coaching change. "So, of course, with the type of personnel we have, we can play creative. We have a lot of skill."--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
