Trevor Story Won't Make Red Sox Debut Until Thursday
1 year agoBoston Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story (elbow) will take the full 20 days on his minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester, according to manager Alex Cora. Story's rehab assignment expires on Wednesday, so the earliest he will make his 2023 debut for Boston will be on Thursday against the visiting Kansas City Royals. The 30-year-old is attempting to return from surgery on his right elbow. Given his long layoff -- he hasn't played in the majors since last September -- the Red Sox wanted to give him plenty of time to get his timing down in the minors. Story has looked pretty good on his rehab assignment, and he's going to step in immediately as Boston's starting shortstop when he comes off the 60-day injured list next week.
