Anthony Rizzo Sitting Again Against Houston
1 year agoNew York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo will start the game on the bench on Thursday against the visiting Houston Astros. Rizzo also sat out of Wednesday's game, but the Yankees are also facing a righty on the mound on Thursday in Cristian Javier. The 33-year-old veteran left-handed slugger is in a funk at the plate of late and homered just once in all of July. In his last seven games, Rizzo has gone 4-for-29 (.138) with no homers or RBI, 10 strikeouts and one run scored since July 25. The cold stretch has dropped his season line to .244/.328/.378, and he's added 12 homers, 41 RBI and 45 runs scored in 373 at-bats on the year. With Rizzo getting right mentally, Jake Bauers will start at first base and bat leadoff for the Yanks against Javier.
