Miles Mikolas Drops Appeal Of Suspension
1 year agoSt. Louis Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said that right-hander Miles Mikolas dropped the appeal of his MLB-mandated five-game suspension and will begin serving it on Wednesday. Mikolas was suspended for intentionally hitting Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ on July 27. His next start on the mound will come on the road against the Tampa Bay Rays next Tuesday. The 34-year-old hurler has made a league-high 24 starts so far in 2023 and has gone 6-7 with a 4.29 ERA (3.77 FIP), 1.29 WHIP, 26 walks and 94 strikeouts in 134 1/3 innings pitched. Mikolas has been quite solid, but his weak 6.6 career K/9 doesn't give fantasy managers a ton of upside. His matchup against the Rays next week will be one to fade him in.
