Fantasy Baseball Impact Of The Boston Red Sox Acquiring Luis Urias
The Boston Red Sox acquired infielder Luis Urias on Tuesday in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Urias enjoyed a solid season at the plate for the Brewers in 2022, hitting .239 with a .335 on-base percentage, 16 home runs, and a stolen base. However, he’s struggled in the majors this year, batting .145 with a .299 on-base percentage and a home run in 68 plate appearances for the Brewers.
The infielder was more productive at Triple-A, logging a .233 batting average to go along with a .345 on-base percentage, four home runs, and a stolen base.
Per the Red Sox’s tweet, Urias was optioned to Triple-A. He’s certainly someone to keep an eye out for fantasy managers in deeper leagues, especially if fellow Red Sox infielders Christian Arroyo and Yu Chang continue to struggle.
Arroyo entered play Tuesday batting .245 with a .273 on-base percentage, three home runs, and a stolen base in 199 plate appearances, logging a 69 wRC+ in the process. Meanwhile, Chang was hitting .156 with a .200 on-base percentage, five home runs, and three stolen bases in 97 plate appearances for the Red Sox as of the start of play Tuesday, posting a 38 wRC+.
